Southgate names Maguire in England’s 26-man World Cup squad

England Coach, Gareth Southgate has released a twenty-six-man World Cup list with the surprised inclusion of Manchester United’s Harry Maguire.

Harry Maguire has found playing time hard to come by this season under his new manager, Erik Ten Hag, following his series of calamitous mistakes at the heart of defence.

Southgate who released the World Cup list on Thursday also included Leicester City Midfielder, James Maddison who has been in scintillating form for his club this season.

The England Coach also omitted some big names like Tammy Abraham and South-Hampton’s James Ward Prowse.

Goalkeepers: Jordan Pickford (Everton), Nick Pope (Newcastle), Aaron Ramsdale (Arsenal)

Defenders: Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw (both Manchester United), Eric Dier (Tottenham), John Stones, Kyle Walker (both Manchester City), Kieran Trippier (Newcastle), Conor Coady (Everton), Ben White (Arsenal), Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)

Midfielders: Jude Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund/GER), Mason Mount, Conor Gallagher (both Chelsea), Declan Rice (West Ham), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Kalvin Phillips (Manchester City)

England will face Iran to kick start their World Cup Campaign on November 21 before facing the USA and Wales in Group B.
