Atiku reacts to attack on his convoy

Presidential Candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar has described as “unfortunate” the attack on his convoy in Maiduguri by thugs, alleging that it was masterminded by the political leadership in Borno State.

Alhaji Atiku levelled the allegations when he visited the former military president, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida in company of serving and former governors, senators and former military officers at his hilltop residence in Minna, Niger State.

The former vice-president wondered why “such a thing could happen” despite the signing of a peace accord by the respective presidential candidates.

On the lingering crisis between the PDP Presidential Candidate and G five Governors, Alhaji Atiku said he and his team have been engaging the other side, and that the engagements will continue until the desired results were achieved.

The PDP presidential flag-bearer, however, insisted that the impasse was “a family affair”, saying he was optimistic it would be resolved before the general election “when Nigerians will see a united PDP ready to take over the mantle of leadership”.

On Alhaji Atiku’s entourage were: Governor of Delta State and PDP Vice-Presidential Candidate, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa; Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State, and former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido.

Others include, Former Osun State Governor, Chief Olagunsoye Oyinlola; former Adamawa State Governor, Boni Haruna; former Niger State Governor, Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu, and former Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha.

Former National Security Adviser, Ali Gusau; Senator Dino Melaye and Senator Abdul Ningi were also on the entourage.
