Group tasks government on national action plan on flooding

A social-cultural group, Club Twelve-88 wants the federal and state governments to design a national action plan on management of flood and ensure strict compliance for the country to curtail its attendant effects on Nigerians.

The President of the Club, Retired Rear Admiral Gbadejo Adedeji made the call at the inauguration of new executive members of the club and launch of appeal fund for the less privileged in Abuja.

Real Admiral Adedeji said the damages the flood had on Nigerians would have been averted if the national action plan on flood was followed judiciously.

Real Admiral Adedeji also explained that the club is planning a N100m fund to help vulnerable Nigerians particularly those in the FCT.

On the activities of the club, he said the organisation had provided relief materials and other important assistance to the school of the blind in Jabi, School for the deaf and dumb in Kuje, IDP camp in Kuchingoro, and other vulnerable schools in the area to alleviate their sufferings.

The immediate past president of the Club, Mr Olusola Odebode appealed to good spirited Nigerians to support the club by contributing to the N100m fund geared towards the growth of the country.
