Rwandan MP resigns after drunk-driving

A Rwandan MP, Mbonimana has apologised to Rwandans after drink-driving.

Mbnimana had on Monday tendered his resignation letter to the parliament.

In a statement on his tweeter handle, Mbonimana says he has decided to stop the intake of alcohol.

The President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame had criticized the MP for the act which carries a fine of 150, 000 Rwandan Francs and five days in police custody.

President Kagame was also furious at the Police for not arresting Mbonimana for drink-driving.

Mr. Mbonimana, a member of the Liberty Party, has been an MP since 2018.
