The United States Civil Space and Aeronautics Agency, NASA has launched what it described as the most powerful rocket ever designed for a journey to the moon.
NASA’s first female launch Director, Charlie Blackwell-Thompson said Artemis 1 would inspire other generations to venture into space science.
In a tweet, NASA’s Associate Administrator for Exploration System, Jim Free noted that the spacecraft had completed a propulsive maneuver to escape the pull of Earth’s gravity and was on its path to the Moon.
America last sent astronauts to the Moon during the Apollo era, from 1969-1972.
NASA had previous attempt to launch the rockets failed due to technical reasons and also weather setbacks including Hurricane Ian, which battered Florida in late September.
