SGF warns MDAs over non-compliance with federal character

The Secretary to the Government of Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha has directed Ministries, Department and Agencies, MDAs to always ensure strict compliance to the Federal Character mandates or face sanction.

Mr. Mustapha gave the directive at a stakeholders workshop for North Central Zone in Abuja organized by the Federal Character Commission with the theme: “Integrating Strategic Partnership with Critical Stakeholders and Advocacy on Balance Development.”

He explained that the mandate of the commission was to oversee even distribution on recruitment and promotion, hence the need for the MDAs to adhere accordingly

Mr. Boss Mustapha represented by federal Commissioner representing Niger State, Major General Suleiman Saeed Barau, retired, however said weaver could be granted to MDA’s with less than 100 vacancies and insisted that any other recruitment should follow due process.

In a remark, the Secretary of Federal Character Commission, Muhammad Bello Tukur, noted that the commission had never been involved in the National Judicial Council recruitment or promotion process as part of the mandate of character commission.

He urged the National Assemble to ensure compliance with oversight for the commission to discharges its mandate.
