A world class maternity centre has been established at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada Abuja
The maternity centre funded by the Nigeria Liquefied and Natural Gas, NLNG is to address the high rate of maternal mortality in the country.
The Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire while inaugurating the facility said government would continue to collate with stakeholders towards improving the health sector in the country.
The Minister represented by the Director, Hospital Services, Dr. Boladele Alonge, said the maternity center which had world class equipment to address the high rate of maternity deaths in the country.
The Managing Director, Nigerian Liquefied and Natural Gas, NLNG, Dr Philip Mshelbila, said the Maternal center is one of the 12 of the NLNG projects across the country with each costing 500,000 dollars.
Responding, the Chief Medical Director, University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, Professor Bissallah Ekele, applauded the NLNG for the gesture with a promise to maintain the structure and put the facility to use to the benefit of Nigerians.
the 30 bedded facility has ten bedded Delivery suit, 10 postnatal ward and 10 bedded special Baby Unit.
