FIFA to invest additional $1bn in football

The game of football globally is set for an additional investment boost to the tune of $1 billion (USD).

FIFA President, Gianni Infantino made the announcement on Sunday morning, as he addressed a large audience hours before the commencement of the FIFA World Cup, Qatar-2022.

At the gathering, delegates had presented the financial year-end forecasts; including increased revenue projections of $7.5 billion and net result of around $1 billion.

Mr Infantino also revealed that in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic and other crisis-points around the world, FIFA’s revenue at year-end would stand at $7.5 billion – more than $1 billion more than was budgeted for.

The FIFA boss made his speech in the presence of His Highness, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar; HE Hassan Al Thawadi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy; FIFA Secretary-General, Fatma Samoura; FIFA Council Members, and FIFA Legends from around the world.
