The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) has urged the public to avoid gender injustice especially against women and children across the country.

Chairperson, FIDA, Abuja Branch, Chibuzor Nwosu made the appeal during a sensitisation walk to the popular UTC market in Abuja as part of their 2022 Law Week.

Mrs Nwosu, who sensitised the traders and passers-by on gender injustice against women and children, also highlighted the penalties involved if caught in the act after thorough investigations.

The Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Abuja branch, Afam Okeke stressed that ignorance was not an excuse before the law; hence the need for FIDA members to sensitise the public.

Traders in the market came out in their numbers for the exercise, which was done in different languages for the benefit of all.

The theme for this year’s Law Week is “Addressing the Concept of Gender Justice in Nigeria”.
