FRSC to prosecute fleet operators that refuse inspection

The Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC is to prosecute fleet operators that refuse to allow certification team access their premises for inspection.

Acting Corps Marshal of FRSC Dauda Ali-Biu who gave the warning at the opening of a one day capacity building for Safety Managers said any fleet operator that failed to meet certification standards twice would be prosecuted.

Represented by the Assistant Corps Marshal Ridom Kumven, the acting Corps Marshal appealed to operators to introduce improved safety practices and comfort of passengers in compliance with traffic regulations.

He however expressed believe that safety managers would ensure that their drivers observe the required safety precautions of road use during the Ember Months and beyond.

In a remark, FRSC Transport Standardization Officer, Abiodun Oyelade said the commission observed widespread violations of standard safety rules which includes non installation of speed limit device and poor implementation of the Passenger Manifest.

Mr Akinlade maintained that FRSC would continue to build the capacity of stakeholders for effective traffic management in the country.

Over 100 fleet operators across the country attended the retreat with the theme : RTSS- Strategic Initiatives For Professional Road Safety Management in Nigeria.
