A bomb blast has killed 17 students and injured another 26 in a religious school in northern Afghanistan.
The blast was said have detonated when people were leaving for prayers at Aybak in Samangan province.
The majority of those killed are believed to be children aged nine to 15.
A doctor at the local hospital said most of the victims were students at the school.
He said patients with critical injuries have been transported to larger hospitals for better treatment.
Interior ministry spokesman, Abdul Nafee Takkur said the Taliban’s security forces were investigating the attack as efforts were on to identify the perpetrators and prosecute them.
