Gunmen kill DPO’s mother, brother in Katsina

Armed bandits in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State have killed the mother of the Divisional Police Officer serving in Dutsi Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The terrorists who invaded Danmusa town in large numbers, raided people’s houses and attacked three other villages where they abducted 24 persons and raped dozens of women.

An eye witness from Danmusa, Gambo Bishir, narrated how the bandits raided Tashar Icce village where they abducted two persons, Dangani village where they abducted 22 persons and Tafkin Tula where they raped dozens of women.

Confirming the incident to Radio Nigeria, the spokesman of the state police command, SP Gambo Isah said the bandits raided the villages on motorbikes, armed with Ak47 rifles.

He disclosed that they killed both the mother of the DPO of Dutsi and one of her grown-up sons who was with her during the attack.

Isah said the state Police Commissioner, Shehu Nababa, has since dispatched the Deputy Police Commissioner in charge of Operations with several mobile police squadrons to comb the Danmusa forest for traces of the bandits.

He noted that the police will leave no stone unturned in fishing out the perpetrators of the heinous act.

Meanwhile, after the attack, youths in Danmusa town went on rampage vandalizing government and political party buildings and billboards in protest over the attack.

However, calm since since returned to the area.

Reacting to the acts of vandalism, Governor Aminu Bello Masari’s Special Adviser on Security Matters, Malam Ibrahim Katsina, warned that such acts of lawlessness would no longer be condoned.

He explained that security agencies were doing their best to check the spate of banditry and kidnapping in Danmusa and other Local Government Areas that are at the center of the crisis.
