The National Human Rights Commission NHRC says its working with the inter- ministerial Committee and other stakeholders to ensure the inclusion of Human Rights Education in the curriculum of Secondary Schools in Nigeria.
The Executive Secretary of the Commission Tony Ojukwu said this in Abuja at a One-Day Capacity building Programme for Principals and Vice Principals of Secondary Schools in the FCT.
The Executive Secretary represented by the Director Civil and Political Rights Mr. Abdulrahman Yakubu explained that human rights education would provide students with skills, values and attitude to build and promote a universal culture of human rights.
The Director FCT Secondary Education Board Dr. Muhammad Sani Ladan, represented by a Deputy Director in the board, Mrs. Helen Idakwoji, said human rights is an integral part of human existence that promote dignity and Peaceful society.
The Director FCT Junior Secondary Schools Hajiya Rahmatu Nusa, emphasized that the Programme would avail the participants to understand and know the significance of human rights in every society.

The participants at the workshop are expected to replicate the knowledge and skills acquired in the programme in their respective schools.
