Court affirms Adebutu as PDP Governorship candidate in Ogun

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, has dismissed a suit by a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Otunba Jimi Lawal against Oladipupo Adebutu, in respect of the Ogun state PDP governorship ticket.

Lawal and Adebutu, had both laid claim as the gubernatorial candidate of the party ahead the 2023 general election.

Delivering Judgment, Justice Inyang Ekwo held that he did not see any concrete documentary evidence by the Plaintiff to ascertain his claim that an unlawful delegate list was used by the PDP to conduct the April 30, Ward Congress in Ogun state.

Justice Ekwo noted that the plaintiff, by the suit played a role of a spoiler, and held that the suit is a product of an after thought.

Lawal, who contested the May 25, governorship primary election of the PDP had challenged the emergence of Adebutu, alleging that unlawful and invalid delegates list was fraudulently used by PDP to conduct the election.
