IPCR calls for non-violent election

The Director General Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution IPCR, Dr Bakut Bakut says Nigerians deserve the right to participate in a peaceful and violent free election without any fair of intimidation.

He stated this in Abuja at the fourth quarter review meeting of the network of policymakers to support reconciliation, peace and security in Nigeria.

Dr Bakut called on religious leaders as well as policy makers to mobilize resources, networks and capacities towards realisation of peaceful and violent free election in 2023.

In a paper entitled “Citizens Rights to Participate in a Peaceful and Violent -Free Election”, a lecturer in the Department of English and Literary Studies, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria Dr Hauwa Sani identified peace education and proper communication as effective ways to achieving peaceful election.

She said peaceful elections can achieved through the participation of all stakeholders.

Religious organizations, security agencies, Non Governmental Organisations as well as research institutions were represented at the event.
