The Federal government says it has completed and handed over forty six internal road projects in various Federal Tertiary Institutions as part of its intervention to make learning environment more conductive in the country.

The Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola stated this during the inauguration of a road project completed by the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing in Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ikwo in Ebonyi State.

The stretch of road which measured 0.6 kilometres links other parts of the University with the College of Medicine and Faculty of Law.

Represented by the Federal Controller of Works in charge of Ebonyi State, Mr Steve Oluwadun, Mr Fashola explained that the Federal government had successfully intervened in eighty three internal roads in Federal Tertiary Institution.

The Minister noted that while forty-six had been completed and handed over, eighteen were ready and would be handed over while nineteen were on going.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Sunday Elom, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor incharge of Administration, Professor Abel Ezeoha said apart from the internal road project, the Federal government had in 2018 intervened in the energy needs of the University and commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the gesture.

Two students of the University who spoke to Radio Nigeria on the project, called on the Federal government to further reconstruct more internal roads in the school as it was difficult to access some lecture halls and hostels.
