Gunmen kill 4, injures many in Egypt

At least four people have been killed and 12 others wounded in an attack on a police checkpoint in the Suez Canal city of Ismailia.

Egyptian officials and medical sources have disclosed.

Three police officers and a yet to be unidentified person were killed in the attack.

The attack described as “terrorist attacks” took place on Friday afternoon on the western side of the Suez Canal, according to security officials.

Egypt’s security forces said it foiled the attack on the security checkpoint where an exchange of fire took place between Egyptian security forces and a group of terrorists near El Saliheen Mosque in North Ismailia governorate.

At least one attacker has been neutralized, according to the sources.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
