Ogun couple set ablaze after cross-over night

Arrests have been made in connection with the death of a couple, Kehinde and Bukola Fatinoye, after returning to their home in Abeokuta from cross-over night.

According to the Ogun State Police Command, the suspected arsonists are thought to have trailed the couple to their private residence in the Ibara Area of the state capital before setting their home ablaze.

The command spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi said the suspected arsonists also kidnapped the victims’ son alongside the housemaid and threw them into a river along the Adigbe-Obada axis of the town.

Mr Oyeyemi said investigations were ongoing, in order to unravel both the immediate and remote causes of the incident. He assured the public that justice will be served.

Until his death, Kehinde Fatinoye was a staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria while his wife, Bukola, worked with the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.

The victims were said to have been burnt beyond recognition with their remains later gathered up by policemen and health officials at the scene and taken to the hospital in an ambulance.

Hundreds of sympathizers trooped to the house of the Fatinoyes, many weeping profusely.
