Residents of the Gerewu community in the Ilorin West local government area of Kwara state have appealed to the federal and the state government to come to their aid over the planned demolition of their house by the management of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) in Ilorin.
The Village head of Gerewu, Alhaji Ibrahim Amosa, made the appeal while speaking exclusively with Radio Nigeria Correspondent in Ilorin.
According to him, the management of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) had commenced the fencing of their community without any consultation.
Alhaji Amosa explained that all the community’s critical infrastructures, which included schools, a Police station, Health center among others are within the area earmarked for fencing and demolition.
He appealed to the federal and Kwara state government to urgently intervene to save their over 3,000 houses from demolition and subsequent displacement of about 5,000 inhabitants of the community.
