NGO advocates massive voter education

A Non Governmental Organization, Vote Count Campaign Organization has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to carry out massive Voter Education and Community to Community Electoral Advocacy Programmes to equip the electorate with information that will help them to make informed decision during the elections.

The National President of the NGO, Ambassador Emmanuel Nkweke who stated this on Tuesday in Abuja while briefing newsmen also launched a campaign tagged “INEC is Your Friend”

He explained that the campaign is to appeal to those attacking INEC facilities to put an end to it and rather support the Electoral Body in its efforts to conduct an acceptable election next month.

He also said the innovation that INEC introduced in the electoral processes needed to be well understood by both the ad hoc staff and the electorate for the nation to have a successful election next month.

Ambassador Nkweke said his organization had commenced rural education on the workings of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS machine for them to be familiar with the innovation before the election days.

He called on the Security Agencies to ensure the protection of lives and properties before, during and after the elections.

Ambassador Nkweke also called on the citizens yet to collect their PVCs to do so before the deadline.
