NiMET, Director General, Professor Mansur Matazu, with a delegation from Niger and a team from the Gambia
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NIMET, has assured Gambia and Niger Republic of collaborations that will enhance their capacity to predict weather more accurately and to improve their ability to provide sundry services related to climate.
The Director General of NIMET, Professor Mansur Matazu, gave the assurance when a representative from the Gambia and a delegation from Niger visited him in his office in Abuja.
The visit by both countries was to seek and iron out partnership modalities with NIMET whom they described as the standard bearer in Africa.
Professor Matazu detailed the nature of the proposed trainings and how it would benefit the recipients.
The National Director, Meteorology, Niger, Mr Katiellou Lawan expressed confidence on the expertise proficiency of NiMET and how his country would benefit from the trainings.
The Director, Department of Water Resources, the Gambia, Lamin Touray, said applauded NiMET for not relenting in lifting burden Meteorological agencies in Africa.
Nimet has continued to play the big brother role by empowering the capacity of growing Meteorological agencies in Africa with the aim of achieving a more stable, environmental friendly and food secured continent.
