The Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC has expressed concern over the increasing number of road accidents involving 18 seater buses across the country.
Corps Marshal FRSC, Dauda Ali-Biu made this known while briefing newsmen on the just concluded 2022 End of Year Special Patrol tagged “Operation Zero Tolerance to Traffic Crashes”.
Mr Ali-Biu said 18 seater buses were meant for short distance travels and for inter travel.
According to the FRSC Corps Marshal, most of the recent fatal accidents involving 18 seater buses occurred at night.
He however appealed to Nigerians to always avoid night journeys as most of the bus drivers engage in reckless driving, over speeding and wrong overtaking.
Mr Ali-Biu assured that the commission would increase its visibility on the highway, engage stakeholders, and ensure total compliance to traffic rules for effective road management this year.
The FRSC Corps Marshal maintained that all political Parties have been adequately informed to always engage FRSC personnel during campaign rallies and other political activities to avoid gridlock.
