China calls for calm over surveillance balloon row

China has called for calm in settling the tension which erupted over the alleged Chinese surveillance balloon seen in the US.

In a statement, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said Beijing has not violated the airspace of any country.

According to the statement, China reached out to US top official, Antony Blinken on the importance of good communication in dealing with the situation.

The statement however alleged that some US politicians are using the situation to smear China.

The BBC reports that America’s top diplomats are expected to visit Beijing from 5 to 6 February to hold talks on security, Taiwan and Covid-19.
