The Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Doctor Paschal Agbodike has expressed worry over the high level of insecurity in the state especially Ihiala axis.
Doctor Agbodike who made the observation while supporting the motion for adjournment during plenary, said the release of the detained leader of the IPOB, Mr Nnamdi Kanu will go long way in putting an end to the menace.
According to him, the insecurity and attacks in the area had forced a lot of people out of their ancestral homes.
He regretted that the situation has also turned most of the communities into ghost towns as business activities had continued to be crippled.
The Deputy Speaker who is the member representing Ihiala constituency two, noted that 80 Percent of the population in the South East Zone believe that setting Kanu free will go a long way to control the insecurity in the area.
Doctor Agbodike called on the National Assembly members from the zone to unite and make serious case for the federal government to release the IPOB leader who is being held despite court judgment in his favour.
Doctor Agbodike who noted that the people of the area were not known for bloodshed especially that of their own brothers, joined his voice with that of Governor Chukwuma Soludo to request for the unconditional release of the leader of the Proscribed group.
Our correspondent reports that Ihiala local government area had been under attacks by hoodlums as the headquarters of the council area was recently burnt down by yet to be identified persons.
