Ahead of the forthcoming general election, the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP has raised alarm over the proliferation of fake public opinion polls which it says is a tool for electoral violence.
In a statement, the National Publicity Secretary of NNPP, Dr Agbo Major, said most of the polls lacked important ingredients of credible opinion polls, such as sampling different strata of populations, size of samples, distribution of samples across the constituencies and the use of professionals to conduct the polls and specifying margins of errors.
Dr Agbo expressed worry that those behind the fake polls had no pedigree and were giving misleading results designed to promote a certain candidate as a leading contender.
He also wondered why some media houses have fallen for this joke that has many implications on the credibility of the elections and the security of the country.
“NNPP is a grassroots political party set to usher in a new and better Nigeria if voted into office in the February 25, 2023 presidential election”.
Nigerians want a competent, resourceful, visionary and pragmatic leader to redirect the ship of the nation to the path of rectitude, progress, development and advancement. This will bring to an end our long national nightmare and suffering”. he noted.
He said Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso remains the front runner in the upcoming presidential election, with his people oriented manifesto.
