The Good Tidings Bible Church International has called on Nigerians to seek Divine intervention for a sucessful conduct of 2023 elections.
At a Special National Day of Prayer organized by the Church in Abuja, Senior Pastor, of the church, Dayo Olutayo,said the prayer became necessary following the challenges facing the country, and the need to seek Divine intervention to enable it overcome its socio-economic and political drawbacks.
Pastor Olutayo,who maintained that God as the creator of the universe, has a better master plan for Nigeria, advised citizens to return to God, for direction on how to reposition the country to the part of development.
The Clergyman also urged policy makers to encourage the teaching of history in schools, as this will ensure that the origin and basis of the nation is preserved and passed to future generation.
“As a Nation, we need to go back to our basis that is history, the Nation founding Fathers came together designed Coat of arms, National Flag, all these National symbols were created for their Children to use as guide to develop the Country. I hereby advise policy makers, Government official and Stakeholders in Education sector to make sure History as compulsory Subject from Primary School to Tertiary Level”. Pastor Olutayo explained.
Pastor Olutayo called on politicians to desist from insightful comments that could instigate violence during and after the elections.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC ,Deputy Director, Voter Education and Publicity, Dr Chukwuemeka Ugboaja reiterated the determination of the Commission to ensure transparent electoral exercise.
“Each Political Party Agent, Local and foreign observer will have access to information regarding the result of each polling Units and INEC will transmit same results on its Portal, so any thing contrary, then concerned group should raise alarm.
Our BVAS are functionally in good condition with standby experts In case of any hitches. Additionally, INEC is ready for the elections”. Dr Ugboaja explained.
National Coordinator Intercessors for Nigeria, Mr Iheanyi Uzoma who composed a Lyric for the event titled, A New Nigeria, admonished Nigerians to vote for credible Leaders without fear or intimidation.
The prayer session had in attendance representatives of political parties, civil society organisations and security operatives.
