Security agents kill bandits in Niger state

Many bandits have been killed in a gunfight with a combined team of police from Gawu Babangida and Paiko division, military and vigilante members in Niger state.

The Divisional Police Officer, Paiko Division, Mukhtar Sabiu and four other police personnel from both divisions were also killed during the encounter.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun made this known in a statement issued to Newsmen in Minna.

According to the statement, combined teams of police from Gawu-Babangida Division and Paiko Division, military, and vigilante members were drafted to the scene; the hoodlums were engaged in a gun duel and repelled with scores of them being neutralised, while others escaped with bullet wounds.

Commissioner of Police in charge of Niger State, Ogundele  Ayodeji, has led a reinforcement team to the scene and recovered the bodies of the deceased personnel.

He, however, condoled with the families of the affected persons, and reassured members of the public that the Command will not relent in the fight against all forms of crime in the State.
