Champions League: Mbappe to be on bench in PSG-Bayern clash

ESPN‘s Julian Laurens has confirmed that Kilian Maple will remain on bench for the first leg of the Paris Saint- German’s UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie against Bayern Munich

Mbappe has been out of action since suffering a notable thigh injury during the first half of PSG’s Ligue 1 away fixture against Montpellier on Feb. 1.

He went on to miss PSG’s next three matches in all competitions, including its Coupe de France round of 16 contest against Olympique de Marseille last week.

PSG manager Christophe Galtier during a press conference on Monday noted that Mbappe returned to training on Sunday.

Galtier said he plans to touch base with Mbappe and PSG’s medical staff on Tuesday morning before making a final decision on whether the forward will play against the reigning Bundesliga champions.

The PSG star has combined for 25 goal contributions in the Champions League and Ligue 1 competitions so far this season.

Meanwhile Bayern put their faith in the dynamism of Leroy Sane, Kingsley Coman, and Jamal Musiala.

The big pre-match news for PSG is that Kylian Mbappe will not start the match but will be available off the bench after only returning to training on Monday due to a thigh injury.
