Christian Atsu’s body found in Turkey’s earthquake rubble

Christian Atsu, a Ghana winger, was discovered dead under a rubble in the building where he lived in southern Turkey after last week’s massive earthquake.

On February 6, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Turkey and Syria, killing more than 43,000 people in both countries.

According to Reuters, Atsu’s manager in Turkey, Murat Uzunmehmet, discovered his body under rubble in the Turkish southern province of Hatay on Saturday.

We’ve arrived at his lifeless body. His belongings are still being taken away. His phone was also discovered, he was quoted to have said.

Ghana’s ministry of foreign affairs said it had “received the unfortunate news”.
