The Vice chancellor who was represented by the Dean, School of Post Graduate studies Prof Gabriel Moti stressed the need for students to take advantage of their mobile devices to learn and build themselves rather than engage in frivolous activities on social media.

The Head, Information and University Relations Unit, Dr. Habib Yakoob said the sensitization programme was to create awareness for the students, staff and university community on the use of social media  and exploring opportunities in the digital media space.

‘’The digital media has taken over. We at the University of Abuja understand and appreciate the importance of digital information technology. We have social media platforms through which we have been able to sensitize the University community. We have over 66,000 followers both on twitter and facebook, students are getting information on a regular basis.

Part of the reasons for organizing this workshop is to sensitize the students on the importance of such information and to ask to form a very strong stakeholder’s forum and support the university’’. Dr Yakoob stated
