Dani Alves, a former Barcelona defender, will remain in prison after a Spanish court denied his bail request while the investigation into his alleged sexual assault continues.
Alves was arrested in January on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman in a Barcelona nightclub in December.
Despite the fact that Alves has since denied any wrongdoing, he has been detained since January, being investigated.
His lawyer had requested bail on the condition that he present his passport and wear an electronic tag, which the court quickly denied.
The court denied the request because it deemed it to be high risk.
Between 2008 and 2016, Alves appeared in 408 matches for Barcelona, winning six La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues.
