Labour Party has called for the postponement of election in Enugu East Senatorial District following the assassination of its candidate, Oyibo Chukwu by yet to be identified gunmen on Wednesday.
Mr Chukwu was murdered on Wednesday alongside his personal assistant.
In a statement, the Party’s National Chairman, Julius Abure, said the postponement became imperative to enable the party conduct a fresh primaries and participate in the election.
Abure noted that the party enjoys maximum support in the state and that the its candidate was on course to win the Enugu East senatorial seat in this election.
The Labour Party’s National Chairman called on INEC not to allow people win election by intimidation or killing other candidate who is loved by his people.
