2023 election: Group seeks special attention for vulnerables

The Gender and Election Watch Room wants the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to accord priority to Pregnant women, nursing mothers and other vulnerable groups during the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

At a Pre-Election briefing in Abuja, the Chief Executive Officer, Gender and Election Watch Room, Nigerian Women Trust Fund, Mufuliat Fijabi, said this was necessary to avoid casualties, since most vulnerables “cannot withstand much stress”.

According to her, about 400 observers have been deployed across the Federation to monitor election proceedings.

Mrs Fijabi advised officials on duty to focus on the technology deployed by the Electoral umpire for elections to ascertain its effectiveness during the voting process.

The group also called on citizens to be peaceful during and after the elections.
