DG Labor Party Presidential Campaign Council Mr Akin Osuntokun
The Director General of the Labour Party (LP) Presidential Campaign Council, Mr Akin Osuntokun, says he is expecting the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to do “the right thing” by uploading results of Saturday’s presidential election.
Fielding questions from Journalists on Sunday, Mr Akin said he was expecting a pleasant surprise from the electoral umpire by uploading the results.
“I have no sufficient right indices to believe that the right thing will be done. I want to be pleasantly surprised. I don’t want to say that what is going to happen is going to be wrong, I can only hope that INEC will do the right thing,” he said
The LP campaign DG expressed dissatisfaction with the delay in uploading of results on the Commission’s election results portal, stating that results were supposed to have been uploaded almost immediately after counting of votes were concluded at the polling units.
According to him, Nigerians have expressed their will and expects INEC to fulfill it’s promise of providing a free and fair election process.
“How can you have this kind of important election and server will be having technical hitche’s nationwide, INEC assured Nigerians that the BVAS and other technicalities are perfect, so why now will the server have problem”.
The DG Labor Party appealed to Nigerians to remain calm and avoid any incidents that will undermine the peaceful coexistence in the country.
