Senatorial election results update continues

ZAMFARA WEST

Former Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari and the All Progressive Congress APC has been declared winner of Zamfara West Senatorial district in the just concluded Saturday 25th February polls.

The Collation Officer for Zamfara West, Professor Rufus Teniola of the Federal University Gusau, declared ,Abdulaziz Yari winner with a total of 147,346 votes to defeat his closest rival Bello Fagon of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who polled 55,083 votes.

While the candidate of the New Nigerian People’s Party, NNPP scored 363 and Labour Party candidate got 111 votes In the result collated.

Similarly, the Candidate of All Progressive Congress APC in Anka /Talata Mafara Federal Constituency Muhammad Isah Anka has been declared winner.

Announcing the result, the INEC Returning Officer for the Constituency, Professor Ibrahim Garba of Federal University Gusau said Muhammad Isah Anka of APC polled 47,722 votes, to defeat his closest opponent Kabiru Yahaya of PDP who got 14,872 votes.

BENUE STATE

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lost his election bid for Benue North West Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate lost to his All Progressives Congress (APC) counterpart in the district, Titus Zam.

The APC candidate polled 143,151, the PDP scored 106,882 and the Labour Party 51,950 respectively.

Zam had served as the Special Adviser to Governor Ortom on local government and chieftaincy affairs.

ANAMBRA STATE

The Candidate of Labour party for Awka North and South Federal Constituency, Professor Lilian Orogbu has been declared the winner of the Saturday National Assembly election .

Announcing the result of the election, the returning officer, Doctor Uche Nriagu while declaring the result, said the Labour Party candidate polled 34713 votes to beat APGA candidate Mr Obi Nwankwor who scored a total of 24814 votes .

The PDP candidate, Chief Emeka Igwe, polled 12850 votes to come third, YPP Candidate, Kingsley Uyamadu got 2042 while the APC candidate Comrade Maxwel Okoye scored 856.

KEBBI STATE

Senator Bala Na Allah of Kebbi South Senatorial district has lost his seat to Garba Musa Maidoki of the PDP.

Announcing the result at the collation center for Kebbi South in Zuru, Professor Ibrahim Mohammed said PDP scored 75,232 votes, while APC scored 70,787.

Meanwhile, Kebbi North Senatorial zone result was declared inconclusive after the cancellation of seven polling units occasioned by violence and over-voting.

EKITI STATE

The Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District and former Senate Minority Leader, Biodun Olujimi has lost her seat to the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and member of the House of Representatives, Yemi Adaramodu.

The APC candidate polled 63,189 to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Olujimi Biodun, who scored 36,191.

Also, Opeyemi Bamidele of APC, who represents Ekiti Central Senatorial District, polled 69,351 to defeat his closest rival, Ajijola Lateef, of the PDP, who polled 26,181.

NASARAWA STATE

Candidate of the PDP for Nasarawa South Senatorial District, Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo, has been declared winner in the National Assembly elections.

Returning Officer of the election, Professor Ahmed Yakubu Ashuku, announced Ogoshi Onawo as winner with 93,064 votes.

He said the candidate of the APC, Senator Tanko Almakura, scored 76,813 votes.

The result of the election was announced under tight security.

KWARA STATE

Alhaji Umar Sadiq Sulaimon of the APC has been declared winner of the Kwara North Senatorial District.

Alhaji Sulaimon polled 78,015 votes to beat his closest rival, Issa Bawa Adamu of the PDP, who garnered 41,443 votes, while the Labour Party (LP) Candidate, Moses Rebecca, polled 1,947.

The declaration was made by the Returning Officer for Kwara North, Professor Oluwole Akinola.

The total number of registered voters is 499,386 while the Total votes cast is 148,183.

In the same vein, Senator Lola Ashiru, representing Kwara South Senatorial District, APC, has been reelected for another term.

The returning officer, Professor Ajibola Akanbi, made the announcement at the collation centre in Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Declaring the official result, Professor Akanbi said Senator Lola Ashiru of the APC polled a total of 55,966 votes, while Senator Rafiu Ibrahim of the PDP received 34,950.

Professor Wale Suleiman of Social Democratic Party (SDP) polled a total of 24,215 votes to place third in the keenly-contested election.

EBONYI STATE

Chief Emmanuel Uguru of the APC has been declared the winner of Izzi and Abakaliki Federal Constituency Election.

Declaring the result in Abakaliki Local Government Area, the Returning Officer, Professor Amos Nworie, said Chief Uguru got 41,771 votes to defeat his closest rival, Emmanuel Ezeh of Labour Party, who garnered 30,977.

However, Mr Ezeh has rejected the election outcome, claiming that it was marred by irregularities.

Similarly, a former APC Chairman, Eze Nwachukwu Eze has defeated his Labour Party and PDP opponents to win the Ebonyi-Ohaukwu Federal Constituency seat.

He garnered 22,794 votes to beat his closest challenger, Chief Ndubuisi Agbo of Labour Party who polled 14,168.

The candidate of the PDP, Victor Aleke received 11,611 votes to place third.

KATSINA STATE

INEC has declared Alhaji AbdulAziz Musa Yaradua of the APC as winner of the Katsina Central Senatorial District election held on Saturday.

Announcing the result at the collation centre in Katsina, the returning Officer, Professor Aminu Dalhatu Kankia said Mr Yaradua scored a total of 153,512 votes to defeat his closest rival, Alhaji Surajo makera of the PDP who polled 152,140, and Alhaji Gambo Abubakar of the NNPP scored 16,005.

Also, the APC candidate, Alhaji Nasir Sani Zango, has been declared winner of the Katsina North Senatorial zone, which has 12 Local Government Areas, including Daura.

Alhaji Zango polled 174,523 votes to defeat the incumbent, Senator Ahmad Babba-Kaita, of the PDP, who received 163,502.

In Katsina South Senatorial District, Alhaji Muntari Dandutse of the APC got 203,245 votes, while PDP’s Dr Garba Matazu scored 151,519.

KADUNA STATE

Alhaji Ibrahim Mustapha of the PDP has been declared winner of the election in Kaduna North Senatorial District.

According to the Returning Officer, Saleh Alhaji Ado of Ahmadu Bello University, who Announced the result at the Collation centre in Unguwan Magajiya Zaria, the election took place at all the wards in the Senatorial District.

He declared Alhaji Ibrahim Mustapha of PDP as the winner, after polling 250,826 votes, while Alhaji Sule Abdu Kwari of APC came second with 19,008.

CROSS RIVERS

PDP candidate in the Cross Rivers North Senatorial District elections, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, has been declared winner in Saturday’s National Assembly elections.

Announcing the results, the Returning Officer, Dr Emmanuel Emanghe said the PDP scored 76,145 votes to defeat the incumbent APC Governor of the State, Professor Ben Ayade, who scored 56,595 votes .

Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe has thus been re-elected to the senate.

TARABA STATE

Governor Darius Ishaku of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has lost his senatorial bid to represent Taraba South after being defeated in Saturday’s election by the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, Mr David Jimkuta.

Declaring the results, the returning officer, Professor Solomon Adeyeye announced that the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), David Jimkuta polled 85, 415 votes to defeat Governor Ishaku who polled 45, 708 votes.

Meanwhile, Governor Ishaku’s Deputy, Haruna Manu clinched the ticket for Taraba Central Senatorial Seat after he defeated his closest rival from the APC, Bashir Marafa Abba and Bobboi Bala Kaigama of the NNPP.
