The National Working Committee (NWC) of Accord Party has dissolved the Oyo State executive members for endorsing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Seyi Makinde, against the party’s flag-bearer, Adebayo Adelabu.
This came after the postponement of the governorship and State Assembly elections from March 11 to 18 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Addressing journalists in Abuja after a two-hour emergency meeting, the National chairman of the party, Alhaji Muhammad Lawal Nalado, named those relieved of their positions to include the State Chairman of Accord, Prince Kolade Ojo; the party secretary in Oyo, Yinka Dairo; as well as the entire Executive Committee members of the party in Oyo.
Alhaji Nalado said the NWC also resolved to constitute a five-man Caretaker Committee to steer the party to victory in the governorship and State House of Assembly elections in Oyo State on the 18th of this month.
Directing the dismissed EXCO members to “hand over all party properties and documents in their possession to the new Caretaker Executive members”, the NWC, according to Alhaji Nalado, also chose Alhaji Isiaka Salami to be chairman, Caretaker Committee.
Alhaji Nalado urged party members and supporters, including the electorate in Oyo State, to come out en-masse and vote for the party’s governorship candidate, Chief Adelabu, as well as all the State House of Assembly candidates in next Saturday’s elections.
