Ahead of Saturday’s State House of Assembly election, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Ondo State has distributed sensitive materials to all its offices in the 18 Local Government areas in the state.
The distribution was held amidst tight security at the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, in the presence of political party representatives, journalists and security agents .
Ondo State will be having only House of Assembly election on March 18 with 13 political parties participating in the election.
Inspecting the materials, the state Acting Resident Electoral Commissioner Oyekola Oyelami, expressed readiness of the commission to conduct free and fair poll in the state.
Oyelami also gave assurance that all the Bimodal Voter Accreditation Systems (BVAS) had been configured and are all working perfectly.
The acting INEC REC added ” Every polling unit has a code stapled on each BVAS before it is taken to each unit”
Oyelami assured electorate in Ondo of early arrival of voting materials to each polling unit on the election day also advised voters to come out en-mass to perform their civic responsibility for any candidate of their choice.
Speaking with journalists , the State Chairman of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Olaoluwa Adesanya, expressed satisfaction with the inspection of materials.
But called on INEC to repeat the same feat recorded at the last poll in making voting materials available to polling units before the commencement of the election.
