INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Lagos, Segun Agbaje addresses reporters on March 18, 2023
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has postponed Saturday’s governorship and state assembly elections in 10 polling units in the Victoria Garden City (VGC), around the Lekki area of the state.
INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner, Segun Agbaje made the announcement when he addressed reporters at the VGC.
INEC officials had set up at the VGC gate for residents to vote, but the residents insisted on voting at the VGC Park which had eight polling units, saying that was the designated voting point.
Mr Agbaje said he discussed the situation with the INEC headquarters and it was decided that voting should now take place on Sunday.
He said there were more than 5,000 eligible voters in the area and that they would not be disenfranchised.
