Barcelona on Sunday defeated Real Madrid 2-1 in the latest El-Classico at the Spotify Camp Nou to open a 12 points gap lead at the top of the La Liga table.

The current La Liga champions, were hoping to put a dent on Barca’s title challenge, having not won the title since 2019.

Real Madrid who had the better chances immediately after the kick off, took the lead through a Ronald Araujo own goal, therefore setting the match in motion.

Barca dominated proceedings thereafter and Madrid had their keeper, Thibaut Courtois to thank for keeping them in the game with series of saves.

Madrid then bowed to pressure from Barca who drew level just before the first half break through Sergi Roberto who pounced on a lose ball to tuck home inside the penalty box.

The second half gave chances to both teams to win as Madrid’s Marco Asensio gave his team the lead only for VAR to rule it for offside.

Shortly after, Barca’s Alejandro Balde set up Frank Kessie in the 92nd minute to score the winner for the league leaders.
