The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has suspended collation of results in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State and Nsukka as well as Nkanu East Local Government Areas of Enugu State.
In a Statement, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye said the move became imperative following review of the conduct of the elections in the two affected states.
According to the statement, INEC’s office in Obingwa Local Government of Abia state was attacked on Sunday and some of its offcials were held hostage in connection with the collation of results.
It maintained that there has been growing call for review of the election results in Nsukka and Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu state, a situation which calls for urgent attention from the electoral umpire.
INEC noted that it will conduct a review of the entire process in the affected areas immediately and appealed to the electorates and candidates to be patient as it find solutions to the problem
