Umar Bago wins Niger Guber election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Umar Bago, as the winner of the Gubernatorial election held last Saturday.

Announcing the results, the State Collation Officer and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics, University of Abuja, Professor Clement Allawa said Umar Bago polled 469,896 votes to defeat his closest rival, Isa Kantigi of the PDP, who scored 389,476.

Professor Allawa said APGA scored 1,746 votes, while the NNPP received 3,378, and the Labour Party polled 3,415.

Agents of all the political parties have signed the election results, except that of PDP who disappeared before the final announcement.

When contacted, Chairman of the PDP in the state, Barrister Tanko Beji, said PDP agents had been directed to forward to the party all the results they had obtained, so as to enable the party cross-check their facts and take necessary action.
