Kwara State Government has reiterated its determination to partner relevant agencies and Civil Society Organisations on effective implementation of Child Right Law in the State.
The State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Suleiman Senior gave the assurance on 21st march 2023 at the opening of a two day workshop on “Practice Direction for Family Court” held at the premises of Ministry of Justice, Ilorin, Kwara State.
Barrister Suleiman Senior, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Musa Idris, described the workshop as a welcome development considering the high rate of child abuse in parts of the country.
The Commissioner reemphasized the state government commitment to protecting the rights of women and children, assuring of the government support for effective operation of family court in the state.
Earlier, the Executive Director, Fulfilling Dreams Foundation, Hajia Nimat Labaika said the two days workshop was aimed at reviewing the rules and order of procedure of the Child Right Law Practice direction for effective operation of family court.
She noted that Fulfilling Dreams Foundation is one of the five partners of a United States Agency for International Development, USAID project on implementation Child Right Law in Benue, Kwara, Kogi, Plateau and Nasarawa States.
She also called for the constitution of the Child Right Law Implementation Committee and provision of a specific budget line for effective implementation and operation of the law in the state.
