Group seeks review of Kaduna guber poll result

No fewer than two Thousand concern citizens of Kaduna State have gathered at the National headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in Abuja to protest the alleged electoral malpractice perpetrated during the last Saturday governorship and state assembly elections in the state.

Submitting a letter of protest, Leader of the group, Citizen Coalition for the restoration of Kaduna mandate Edward John- Auta said the results announced by INEC did not reflect the wishes of the people.

Mr John-Auta maintained that election results from the opposition stronghold were cancelled.

He urged INEC to use the Seven day window provided by the Electoral Act to review the results announced by the INEC returning officer in the governorship election.

According to him, despite protest against the results at the affected local government Most especially some polling units in Kagarko Local Government Area the INEC collation officer went ahead to cancel some results.

The leader of the group also condemned the attitude of some security personnel who he alleged did not carried out their work professionally..

John-Auta emphasized the need for INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu to carry out investigation and redeem the image of the Commission.

The Deputy Director Security, Mrs Ndidi Okafor while Receiving the protest letter on behalf of the commission said the requests as contained in the letter would be looked into.

She commended the group for their peaceful conduct and urged them to work with stakeholders to make the country great.
