The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) says it will soon release its report on the Lagos train bus accident that occurred earlier this month.
The Director-General, NSIB, Akin Olateru, in a statement issued by the Agency’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Tunji Oketunbi, said investigation has begun into the cause and contributory factors of the accident.
According to him, the agency is collaborating with the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency and the Nigerian Railway Corporation to enhance safety in the rail and road sub-sectors.
He said the report will include safety recommendations to both agencies, promising that the report on the accident will not delay as NSIB had 45 “competent rail and marine investigators”.
Mr Olateru described the accident, which claimed nine lives, as regrettable, and assured the Lagos State Government that its investigators would “do a thorough job”.
