Three persons have lost their lives and 13 others injured in a bus gutted by fire, at State Road by Government Technical College, Nasarawa Local Government Area, Kano.
Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer, Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, said the incident involved a commercial vehicle with registration number XE 222 TRN, coming from Ajingi Local Government Area to Kofar Wambai.
He said the agency received an emergency call from one Muktar Yusuf that there was fire outbreak at State Road, involving a vehicle conveying 18 passengers.
Saminu said three females; Zeenai Babji, Surayya Umar and an unidentified victim, lost their lives during the unfortunate incident, 13 people sustained various degrees of injuries, and were conveyed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital for treatment.
Saminu said the driver, 35-year-old Muhammed Gali, and bus conductor Hassan Danladi, have been handed over to Inspector Abubakar Ahmad of Nassarawa Police Division.
He attributed the accident to over speeding and urged motorist to drive with caution.
