Islamic State on Saturday claimed responsibility for an attack on a village in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo that killed 20 people.
“We counted about 20 dead on Friday in the village of Musandaba,” the regional military administrator Colonel Charles Omeonga said.
The army and local authorities have accused the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a Ugandan group based in eastern Congo that has pledged allegiance to Islamic State for the wave of violence against civilians.
The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement via its Telegram channel.
