A Non-Governmental Organisation, the Leadership Council of the Initiatives has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari, the president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Assembly to ensure that necessary steps are taken towards electing a credible leadership of the 10th assembly.
The speaker of the council, Mr Ebeme Eyibo made the position of the Initiatives known to journalists in Abuja on Thursday.
Mr Ebeme Eyibo urged the All progressives congress, APC and the national chairman of the party,ADr abdullahi Adamu to consider zoning the position of the Senate President to the south South, considering the fact that the president-elect is from the south-west and the Vice President is from the north-east in the interest of peace and development of the country.
The association called on senators-elect to see Senator Godswill Akpabio as the best candidate who has the capacity and required knowledge to pilot the affairs of the 10th Assembly.
The group stressed that if south-South is given the chance to produce the Senate President, it would engender equal participation by all and sundry.
