INEC deploys three commissioners for elections in Kebbi

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has deployed three National Commissioners for Saturday’s Supplementary elections in Kebbi State.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after inspecting the distribution of sensitive and non-sensitive materials to the twenty local government areas affected, the National Commissioner, Public and Voter Education, Festus Okoye, explained that the supplementary election would hold in 142 polling units for Governorship, 23 polling units for Kebbi North Senatorial zone, 2 House of Representative seats and 8 state House of Assembly.

According to him, INEC has enough staff to conclude the Supplementary election with deployment of supporting staff from Katsina, Niger and Kwara INEC offices.

Okoye said staff of the Commission would serve as the supervisors, collation officers and as monitors.

“We are confident that with the level of preparedness made. We are going to deliver a credible election tomorrow”, he said.

In terms of security, Okoye said, INEC have engaged heads of various political parties, civil society organisations with assurance from acting civil and the political parties to advise their supporters to obey the rules of the game.

He added that, security operatives would dominate the area to neutralize threat to the peaceful conducts of the elections.
