The Internet was recently thrown into a frenzy following the divorce proceeding of a footballer Achraf Hakimi.
It is not uncommon to read about celebrity divorce on the Internet, but that of Hakimi got international attention as the footballer was discovered to have tied all his earnings in his mother’s name leaving his estranged wife, who had demanded half of his property shocked.
While some hailed Hakimi’s smartness, others frowned at it.
A lot of divorces like this have left some partners bitter and bankrupt.
The following are some international and local of celebrity divorce from 2017 to 2022.
Emmanuel Eboue
37-years-old Emmanuel Eboue was another footballer who had a messy divorce in 2017.
His divorce took place at a time when he was trying to pick himself up from a one-year football ban for failing to pay a former agent.
The footballer’s ex-wife, Aurelie Bretrand won the case and was given custody of their kids including his two houses, seven million euros and the cars that he had in England.
Eboue admitted during an interview that he had to overcome depression from the divorce ruling.
Singer Adele
Breakup Ballard singer, Adele separated from her husband, Simon Konecki, in 2019 after eight years of marriage.
The breakup was said to have been as a result of the couple growing apart due to Adele’s fame.
Adele was mandated by a judge to pay Simon $140 million and they both agreed to work out property and debt through mediation.
They shared custody of their son.
Actor Sylvester Stallone
Another big divorce in the Hollywood industry was that of Sylvester Stallone and Jennifer Flavin who separated in 2022 after 25 years of marriage.
Flavin and Stallone, who began dating in 1988 and tied the knot in 1997, share three daughters: Scarlet, Sistine, and Sophia.

Actress Ireti and Patrick Doyle
Actress Ireti Doyle in January 2022, announced her divorce from husband, actor and veteran broadcaster, Patrick Doyle.
In an interview video on her social media, Ireti wrote, “We are officially divorced.
Basketmouth
Also from the entertainment industry, Comedian Bright Okpocha popularly known as Basketmouth announced his separation from wife, Elsie, in December 2022.
Basketmouth, who has been married to Elsie for 12 years, described the separation as an unavoidable situation.
Paul Okoye
Paul Okoye of PSquare married Anita in 2014 and the duo separated after eight years in 2022.
It was speculated that during the divorce proceeding, Anita requested a $20,000 monthly stipends and properties.
The couple share custody of their three children.
Dancers Kaffy and Joseph Ameh
Professional dancer and instructor, Kafayat Ameh, popularly known as Kaffy got married to her husband, music director and drummer, Joseph Ameh in 2012 but divorced in 2022.
They are blessed with two children.
Announcing her divorce, she said “Separation is not the end of life for both parties involved. In fact, if you both are honest about why you have to go apart, you will realize how much better life can be.”
Funke and JJC
Nollywood actress Funke Akindele and veteran rapper, Abdulrasheed Bello, aka JJC Skillz divorced in 2022 after being married fir six years.
Other divorced celebrities include Actors Kalu Ikeagwu, Gideon Okeke, Saint Obi, comedian Julius Agwu and singer/dancer Korra Obidi
