Governor Ahmadu Fintiri
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Governor Ahmadu Fintiri the winner of the supplementary election in Adamawa State.
Announcing the result, the Returning Officer in the State, Prof. Mohammed Mele said Governor Fintiri, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), polled 9,337 votes to defeat Senator Aishatu ‘Binani’ Dahiru of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who scored 6,513 votes.
INEC on Tuesday resumed the collation of results for April 15th supplementary governorship election which was suspended on Sunday following the announcement of Aisha ‘Binani’ Dahiru as the winner by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Hudu Yunusa Ari.
The Commision on twitter accused the REC of declaring her the winner before the completion of the collation process.
It also said the REC usurped the power of the Returning Officer.
Mr. Ari who was immediately summoned to INEC Headquarters in Abuja, was barred from its office in Adamawa State on Monday with immediate effect.
